Sound View, the definitive hotel by the sea

A 1950 motel on the coast of New York has reopened its doors: midcentury and rationalist atmosphere for more than spectacular views. Welcome to Sound View Greenport

Since 1953, the Greenport Sound View occupies a private beach in the increasingly fashionable Long Island. About two years ago, the hotelier Erik Warner fell in love with the enclave and acquired the property, integrating it into their signatures Eagle Point Hotel Partners Y Filament Hospitality.

"It was as if the hotel was talking to me. I had belonged to a family for decades, and when I bought it I needed a renovation, so I settled for a year in North Fork (where the hotel is located) to learn from the local community and become part of it. I gathered a team of very talented people who understood the vision and helped me shape it, "he explains to Traveler Warner himself.

In addition to local talent, Warner has had a favorite Brooklyn interior designers, Studio tack (laureate authors Bonay House from Barcelona), who have refurbished the hotel to remember the golden era of hotels, with Bauhaus touches and winks to New England, and some nautical touches in honor of the city's fishing past.

The bedrooms have direct access to the beach, the sound of the waves of Long Island invades everything ... And although the hotel is surrounded by wineries and farms that Warner recommends visiting, in the hotel itself the gastronomy is outstanding.

The hotel restaurant, The Halyard, It is directed by Galen Zamarra, the acclaimed owner of More (the call New York farm). Products fresh from the sea cooked with respect. And in the background, always the waves. Sound View is a glorious synesthesia.
